The Kiowa Fire Protection District, along with the other fire districts in Elbert County, is accepting application for volunteer positions. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in answering emergency calls and for those who would like to serve their communities in other ways.
*
"Kiowa Fire is a small combination department that serves 324 square miles of north central Elbert County. Calls for service include fire responses, urgent medical responses, disaster calls, and a variety of other things, including mutual aid to other agencies.
*
We are looking for responders, but also we are looking to expand our volunteer auxiliary membership. If you think you might enjoy being part of a service agency, but have no interest in responding to emergencies, consider being an auxiliary member. There are no minimum membership requirements for the auxiliary, just come with an interest and ability to serve the community.
*
If being a firefighter has always intrigued you, call today for an application and start the process. Join our team and start a rewarding new adventure. Help your community and enjoy the rewards of serving on the fire department.
*
The volunteers at Kiowa Fire have opportunities to serve on every sort of incident, from emergency medical calls to wildland fires. Training for the various responses takes place on Wednesday nights throughout the year. Learning opportunities abound with an in-house EMS Training Group.
*
For volunteers who elect not to service in a response capacity, we have many other areas with possibilities for service. Annually, we provide a safe and warm place for the children to gather on Halloween. Complete with refreshments an games for all, the annual event is a community highlight. the Fourth of July celebration at the Elbert County Fairgrounds would not be complete without the Fire Department's PFI certified fireworks show. Support staff is needed to supplement the certified people who put on the show! ...
*
In summary, no matter what your gift, we ca use it to benefit the community. If you have the time and the desire to serve, we can provide a venue!"
