Abe21.net has officially gone off line. It is no more, kaput. The events calendar has found a new home at New-Plains.com: http://www.new-plains.com, a new site created for local news, analysis, entertainment, links and other good stuff we can't find in the local newspapers.
As a result, a few changes have been made, such as the new email address you may have noticed on your copy of this week's Update. You can continue to request events be added or changed by emailing me directly at patty@new-plains.com, or by visiting the website, clicking on the "Event Emails" button on the top right of the Home Page, and choosing "Send Events" button.
In addition, you can add or delete yourself from the email by choosing the "Add" or "Delete" button from the same location.

This year, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office will be sponsoring the 2nd Annual Domestic Violence Awareness and Community Outreach Event. Planned activities include a weeklong series of Coffee and Conversation domestic violence awareness events, as well as, a one-day SHOP TO STOP IT community outreach event. Calling all BOOK CLUBS….WOMEN’S GROUPS…..FAITH GROUPS…..and ANY interested COMMUNITY MEMBERS!!!! Please join us at this year’s 2nd Annual Coffee and Conversation events, October 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st. We know that talking about a domestic violence situation is not the kind of conversation you have over coffee…..We also know that not talking about it doesn’t mean that domestic violence isn’t happening. During these events, members of the victim services community will provide a suggested reading on the topic of domestic violence. We will also provide tools for guided conversations based on the book Whispers by Belva Plain, to women’s groups, faith groups, book club members and any community member interested in becoming more familiar about the dynamics of domestic violence. These events are an excellent way to enhance your ability to begin talking about domestic violence with family, friends, or neighbors. There is NO COST to participate, the information is free….and guess what….the Coffee is on us too! http://www.elizabethchamber.org/calendar.htm
