National Crime Victims Rights Week - April 18th through April 23rd - Each April since 1981, OVC has helped lead communities throughout the country in their annual observances of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) by promoting victims’ rights and honoring crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf. Chicks for Charity are hosting a fund raiser for CASA, Advocates for Children this Friday night, April 23rd, at the Sherman Street Event Center, 1770 Sherman St., Denver. It starts at 7 PM and looks to be a great event!

THE GABRIEL FOUNDATION 's VOLUNTEER WORK DAY is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th from 9 AM - 3 PM. This will be the day when we don our work gloves, grab ladders, pliers, rakes and trash bags, and give a face lift to all of the outside flights. The flights need to be cleaned out, cargo ropes repaired, toys replenished/replaced. With good, warm weather, it's a wonderful way to get some sunshine and exercise and meet new neighbors and friends. Lunch/beverages will be provided. Metropolitan and special district elections will be held Tuesday, May 4th between 7 AM and 7 PM. The major fund raiser for the Friends of the Library is the used book sale. There are always books and videos for sale at the little shop in the library and once a year the library hosts a large, week-long sale, which takes place at the beginning of the summer. Stop by and visit the book sale, there are some great deals!

Booth sizes will be 10x10 for $40 or 10x20 for $70, with some spots 5x10 for $25 being available. Non-profit organizations will recieve a free 10x10 space. Because weather in Elbert County is typically quite busy this time of year, please consider coming prepared with cinder blocks to stabilize tables, umbrellas and tents.
