On Sunday, February 28th, Independent Power Systems (IPS) will discuss solar power rebates that are now available to members of IREA. The Governor's Energy Office (GEO) program has recently announced that a $1.50 per Watt rebate will be available statewide beginning in March, 2010. Representatives of IPS will discuss how solar electric works, an how to use the GEO rebate, the 30% Federal Tax credit for homeowners and the Federal Renewable Energy Grant of 30% for businesses to dramatically reduce the cost of owning solar. Agricultural entities can learn how to use the USDA grant to go solar. The discussion will take place at the Carlson Building, 239 S. Main St., Elizabeth, starting at 6 PM. The 2010 election cycle includes district elections for the local municipal, metropolitan and special districts. Elections will be held Tuesday, May 4th between 7 AM and 7 PM. Applications for Mail-in-Ballots must be received by the District Designated Election Officials (DEO) no later than close of business, by mail Tuesday, April 27, 2010, or by hand delivery by Friday, April 30, 2010. The breakfast is prepared the 4th Sunday of each month by the Elbert Women's Club members. Proceeds are used to restore and maintain the hall, which was built in 1906. The club completed a lovely restoration of the exterior in 2009. The hall was recently selected by Prairie Development as an "Off the Beaten Trails" historical site. It's the largest community building in the county. The club also provides a table with gift items including books on the history of Elbert County. Donations are accepted as well. Breakfast is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
