The Elbert County Museum will be closing for the 2009 season on Sunday, September 6th. The Household Hazardous Waste Roundup will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2009, from 8 AM to 1 PM, at the Elbert County Compactor, 5251 CR 124, south of Elizabeth. The cost will be $20/vehicle. This event is open to Elbert County citizens only. Please bring a current driver's license or Elbert County vehicle registration to participate. Elbert County residents will be allowed to dispose of a maximum of 20 gallons of waste per household. Acceptable items will include: paint, automotive fluids, house and garden chemicals, batteries, propane tanks, mercury, fireworks, ammunition, newspaper, aluminum, metal and glass bottles. Each household may also bring one computer or box of electronic items for recycling. For an additional charge, tires and appliances and household trash may also be disposed of.
