From the website, http://www.peaceinchristelm.org, "Peace in Christ is turning its fall fundraiser into a gift to the larger community! Recognizing that many families in Elbert County are hurting, this ministry is offering a free meal to families, regardless of need. Supper will be served at 236 Tabor Street from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. There is no cost to attend this meal. To benefit area food banks, canned goods will be collected, and a free-will offering basket will be near the door. Come and feed your family and if you desire, donate to those who cannot make ends meet by bringing a can of food.

This week's Elbert County Board of County Commissioner's Agenda lists the Preliminary Budget Presentation for the 2010 Budget. Additionally, the board will hear the proposed amendments to the Elbert County Zoning Regulations related to recent changes in the "Housing" section of the EC Master Plan. Those interested in the Elbert County's Budget process and the challenges we are facing, and those interested in Elbert County's Master Plan, Zoning Regulations and future development may wish to attend. Some resources:
Elbert County Zoning Regulations, Subdivision Regulations, Master Plan and other resources are posted on the Community & Development page here: http://www.elbertcounty-co.gov/dept_CommunityandDevelopmentServices.php
Elbert County's 2009 Budget and 2008 Year End Financial Statement are posted here: http://www.elbertcounty-co.gov/dept_budget_financial.php

Donations are being sought for this year's Toys for Tots drive. The US Marines & the Elbert County Riders' annual drive/ride will take place Saturday, November 14th. Unwrapped toys for children and youth of all ages will be collected at Integrity Auto Repair and the Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce offices at 166 Main St., Elizabeth. Donations may be dropped off through Wednesday, November 11th. The EC Riders will deliver the gifts to Casey Jones Park in Elizabeth, where they will be loaded onto a truck and delivered to the Elizabeth Fire Protection District station on Hwy. 86 in Elizabeth. The gifts will be distributed in conjunction with the Elizabeth Firefighters Community Foundation's Christmas for Kids program.
*
Did you know that you can see a detailed map of Elbert County on the county's website? Go to: http://projects.thetsrgroup.com/elbert/members/index.asp.
Additionally, there are a variety of excellent maps of the county that may be purchased at the Assessor's Office either on paper or CD. The map varieties include the political divisions - all 18 precincts color coded and outlined. Also available are the fire districts or the school districts. Pretty cool options, in my opinion.
*
The Elbert County Health and Environment website offers tips on "Fast Flu Relief", as well as resources for state and federal information on the flu and other health matters. http://echealth.org/H1N1_Info.php
