The brown-bag lunch convenes around 11:30 a.m. with a short period of social time followed by a member presentation and/or a guest speaker. Wrap up is about 1:00 p.m. From June through August, all meetings are strictly social, allowing us to get to know one another better. Weed Symposium for Douglas and Elbert County Landowners Kirk Hall, Douglas County Fairgrounds, Castle Rock Saturday, April 9, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dr George Beck, CSU will be reviewing the most common noxious weeds in the county and how to deal with them effectively. Dan Nosal, Natural Resource Conservation Service will be covering pasture management and reseeding issues. Elizabeth Brown, Colorado Division of Wildlife will be speaking on the control of invasive plants on public lands. The Douglas County Weed Division staff will demonstrate how to calibrate backpack sprayers and tractor sprayers, weather permitting. Vendors from the area will be on hand to acquaint you with their products and services and pricing for weed control. The 18th Judicial District Access to Justice Committee and Your Public Library announce a new FREE Legal Clinic for Elbert & Lincoln Counties to provide legal assistance to litigants who have no attorney Lawyers at the Library is a FREE legal clinic for parties who have no attorney. Volunteer attorneys will answer questions, help fill out forms, and explain the process and procedure for the areas of family law, civil litigation, criminal defense, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law and civil protection orders. The Lawyers at the Library Clinic is informational only, and is not a substitute for legal representation. The Clinic attorneys do not represent you by virtue of their participation in this Clinic. Elbert Women's Club Breakfast
Russell Gates Mercantile Community Hall, Elbert Sunday, April 24th, 8 AM to 1 PM The Elbert Woman's Club holds its monthly all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast on the fourth Sunday of each month. 2011 breakfasts will be held each month except April and Dec. Breakfast is at the Russell Gates Mercantile Community Hall from 8a-1pm. Cost is $6 adults/$3 children. Biscuits and gravy, ham, eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee/tea and orange drink are included. Proceeds support renovation and maintenance of the Hall, as well as other Club community activities. The Hall is located on Elbert Road and built in 1906. The Elbert Woman's Club has provided support to the Elbert community since 1929.
