The Eleventh Annual Home on the Range - Benefiting CASA Advocates for Children will be held at Casey Jones Park, Elizabeth on Saturday, August 14th, 2010. "Every year more than 1, 300 children in our community are victims of abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers are specially trained adults who stand up for these children to help ensure they find safe, permanent homes. Since 1999, Home on the Range has raised almost $1 million in support of the CASA program that serves Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties. Master Gardeners will be available from 9am - 4:30pm on each day to help with your needs and answer your questions. Please feel free to stop by our booth to ask questions about gardening, such as those pesky weeds you just can’t seem to get rid of or the bug eating your favorite flower or vegetable. You can also buy gardening or weed books and pick up free brochures. While you are enjoying the fair, please take a minute to stop by the Extension Office to see how well the Plant Select® flower garden has grown this past year and to see the new Plant Select® flower garden we planted this summer.

Annual Labor Day Barbecue

Monday, September 6th, Lunch will start to be served at 11 AM
If you have not attended this event before, it's a lot of fun! The event is the main annual fundraiser for the Simla Volunteer Fire Department. All donations go directly to supporting the fire department. In addition to burgers grilled by the volunteers, there are booths, bake sales, wares, music, a Senior Auction to support the Senior Class trip, the Boy Scout's Soap Box Derby, a parade and lots more!
